Tragic bear attack claims life of elderly man in Sambalpur
Sambalpur, March 28: An elderly individual tragically lost their life following a bear attack in Talagaon, within the Redhakhol Forest Range of Sambalpur district on Thursday.
The victim, identified as Abhimanyu Sethi, had ventured into a nearby forest when he encountered the wild animal. His cries for help alerted villagers, who swiftly responded by attempting to deter the bear with stones. Despite their efforts, they could only prevent the bear from further dragging Sethi into the jungle. Regrettably, Sethi sustained severe injuries to his eyes, face, back, and other parts of his body.
Efforts to save him were in vain, and Sethi was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. Reports indicate that the village has been witnessing frequent movements of wild animals, including bears, possibly due to a scarcity of food in the forest, leading to their intrusion into nearby settlements.
