Tension in Sambalpur as bombs target parked motorcycle, two injured

Sambalpur, March 27: Unidentified assailant(s) reportedly threw explosive devices at a parked motorcycle near Pirbaba Chhak under Town police jurisdiction in Sambalpur town, resulting in injuries to two individuals. The motive behind the attack remains undetermined.
According to sources, the incident occurred when bombs were allegedly thrown from a flyover bridge near Pirbaba Chhak, targeting a Bullet motorcycle. Consequently, two bystanders suffered injuries, with one sustaining palm wounds. Additionally, the motorcycle's seat, where the bomb landed, was damaged by fire. The area witnessed heightened tension post the attack, though police intervention swiftly restored calm.
Sambalpur Superintendent of Police (SP) Mukesh Kumar Bhamoo and Northern Range Inspector General (IG) Himansu Kumar Lal promptly arrived at the scene to initiate an investigation into the reported bombing.
"We received information an hour ago regarding an explosion near the Masjid at Pirbaba Chhak involving a parked motorcycle. Fortunately, the injuries sustained by two individuals are not critical. The situation is now stabilized, and a thorough investigation is underway," stated the Sambalpur SP during a media briefing.
