Asiatic lioness Rewa welcomes three new cubs at Nandankanan

Bhubaneswar, March 25: Nandankanan Zoological Park, located on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, celebrated the arrival of three adorable cubs as Asiatic lioness Rewa gave birth on Sunday. This marks her second litter, almost a year after her previous one with Jeet.
Although the cubs were born healthy, the zoo authorities decided to transfer them to the rearing center as Rewa initially displayed signs of disinterest in caring for her newborns. Sanath Kumar, Deputy Director of the zoo, mentioned, "While both the lioness and her cubs are in good health, we are closely monitoring the mother's caregiving behavior through CCTV cameras, as she initially exhibited signs of neglect."
Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF)-Wildlife, Susanta Nanda, shared the news on his personal social media handle, expressing a warm welcome to the cubs named Amar, Akbar, and Anthony. He stated, "Seven-year-old Asiatic lioness Rewa at Nandankanan Biological Park has given birth to three male cubs. As the mother abandoned them, they were stabilized in the neonatal ICU and are currently being hand-reared."
With the addition of these three cubs, the total number of lions in the zoo has risen to 24, bringing joy and excitement to the park's visitors and staff alike.
