Police officer suspended following bribery arrest in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, March 24: Following his arrest in a bribery case by the vigilance department, Saheed Nagar Police station Sub-Inspector Priyabrata Pradhan faced suspension from his duties today.
The decision to suspend Pradhan was taken by Twin City Police Commissioner Sanjeev Panda.
Pradhan's arrest occurred on Saturday, as he was apprehended by the Vigilance team while accepting a bribe of Rs 2000 from a complainant in exchange for the return of his seized Driving Licence (DL).
The vigilance team caught Pradhan red-handed accepting the bribe sum of Rs 2,000, which constituted the second installment of the overall demand of Rs 5,000 made by Pradhan to the complainant.
Earlier, the complainant had already paid Rs 3,000 to Pradhan on Thursday, but the SI demanded an additional Rs 2,000 to facilitate the release of the DL.
