Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik pays tribute to Damodar Rout

Bhubaneswar, March 22: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik bids farewell to Dr. Damodar Rout, the former Odisha minister and veteran BJD leader, who passed away while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar early Friday.
Paying his respects at Shankha Bhawan, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) office in the capital, the Chief Minister laid a wreath on the late leader's body, accompanied by VK Pandian, Chairman of 5T and Nabin Odisha.
Leaders from various political affiliations and members of the public gathered at Shankha Bhawan to honor Damodar Rout's memory.
The mortal remains of Dr. Rout, who held ministerial positions in significant departments under both Biju Patnaik and Naveen Patnaik Cabinets, are kept at Shankha Bhawan for supporters and admirers to pay their respects. Earlier, his body was brought to the Odisha Assembly premises, where he received a guard of honor.
Reports indicate that Dr. Damodar Rout's remains will be transported to his hometown, Jagatsinghpur in Odisha, for his final rites, which will take place at the Swargadwar crematorium in Puri.
