Four injured in clash among inmates at Jharapada Jail

Bhubaneswar, March 19: Late on Monday night, a clash erupted between two groups of inmates at Special Jail, Bhubaneswar, located in Jharpara, resulting in injuries to four prisoners. Reports indicate that Sambhunath Barik, an undertrial prisoner, suffered serious eye damage in the altercation and has been hospitalized at Capital Hospital.
The conflict reportedly stemmed from tension brewing within the prison premises over the past two days, allegedly sparked by individuals consuming brown sugar. Matters escalated on Monday night when a violent confrontation erupted between the two inmate factions, prompting the jail superintendent to alert the local police station.
This incident follows another clash that occurred two days prior, believed to have been triggered by suspicions of an inmate acting as a police informant. Seven inmates have been implicated in this earlier altercation, with a case filed at the Khurda town police station.
