VK Pandian leaves door open for BJD-BJP alliance in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, March 19: VK Pandian, Chairman of 5T and Nabin Odisha, left open the possibility of an electoral alliance between the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Odisha, stating that any developments would be made public in due time.
Speaking at the News18 Rising Bharat Summit 2024 on Tuesday, Pandian clarified that discussions between the two parties weren't solely aimed at electoral gains but extended beyond mere election dynamics. He emphasized that neither the BJD nor the BJP necessarily relied on each other for electoral victories in Odisha or at the national level.
Pandian highlighted the camaraderie between Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, referring to them as exemplary leaders and friends. He suggested that an alliance between their respective parties would signify a significant gesture of statesmanship, transcending mere electoral calculations.
He further stressed that the potential alliance was more about two distinguished leaders collaborating for a greater cause rather than merely securing electoral advantages.
Reflecting on the overwhelming victory of the BJD in the last panchayat elections in Odisha, Pandian underscored the popularity of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who, he claimed, consistently prioritizes the welfare and progress of the people of Odisha.
