BJD Leader Prasanna Acharya injured in highway collision, airlifted to Bhubaneswar hospital

Bhubaneswar, March 15: Senior Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader and former MP Prasanna Acharya, injured in a car collision with a truck on National Highway 55 in Odisha’s Sambalpur district on Thursday, has been airlifted to Bhubaneswar and admitted to a private hospital there.
The incident occurred late Thursday night, with Acharya, his security officer (PSO), and the driver sustaining injuries of varying degrees. Initially treated at a private hospital in Sambalpur, Acharya was later transferred to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar for advanced medical care.
Acharya’s PSO recounted that the collision occurred as they were returning to Bargarh from Bhubaneswar, resulting in their immediate transport to the Rairakhol CHC hospital and subsequent transfer to a private facility in Sambalpur.
Confirming the situation, Sambalpur Collector Akshay Sunil Agrawal stated, "Former minister Prasanna Acharya was involved in an accident late Thursday night. He is currently admitted to a private hospital here. His condition is reported to be stable. We are prepared to airlift him to Bhubaneswar if necessary and arrangements for Air Ambulance are being made accordingly."
