IPS officer Sarah Sharma appointed Deputy Inspector General at CBI

Bhubaneswar, March 15: On Friday, a Union personnel ministry order appointed Senior IPS officer Sarah Sharma as Deputy Inspector General in the CBI.
Sharma, a 2010-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Odisha cadre, received approval for central deputation from the Ministry of Home Affairs. The Odisha Chief Secretary has been notified accordingly.
The Ministry of Home Affairs sent a letter to the Odisha Government on March 12, requesting Sharma's immediate release to assume her new role at the Centre. Notably, Sharma was one of three Odisha police officers who joined the CBI's investigation into ethnic violence in Manipur.
Before her assignment to the CBI probe team, Sharma served as SP (Vigilance) in Sambalpur and was relieved by the Odisha police in September 2023.
