Titlagarh Jail Warden suspended after under-trial escape

Bhubaneswar, March 12: Two days after the escape of two under-trial prisoners (UTPs) from Titlagarh jail, the DIG of Prisons, Sambalpur, took action by suspending Titilagarh Jail warden D. Dora for dereliction of duty.
The DIG visited the jail on Monday to investigate the incident and discovered that the under-trials escaped by climbing wall no-4 with the aid of a ladder. Additionally, he noted the absence of CCTV footage from the installed camera at the site.
The murder accused managed to flee due to negligence on the part of the jail warden, leading to the suspension. Despite the incident occurring on Saturday night, the police have yet to apprehend the absconding under-trial prisoners.
The accused, identified as Sumit Bihari and Shobhavan Rana, were incarcerated in separate murder cases. Rana, a sorcerer, was arrested for allegedly killing two children to appease God at Sindheikela, while Bihari had murdered a toddler by throwing him into a well on Kesinga Hospital premises.
Jailer Chaitanya Pradhan lodged a complaint with Titilagarh police station regarding the escape. It's been revealed that both UTPs were actively engaged in computer work within the jail.
