Suspected Maoists allegedly execute couple in Kandhamal district

Kandhamal, March 9: A tragic incident unfolded in Salaguda village, Gochhapada police limits, as Maoists purportedly executed a couple, Dahira Kanhar and Batasi Kanhar, on suspicion of being police informants.
Reports indicate that the victims were seized from their home around 2 am on Friday while they were asleep. Their lifeless bodies were discovered in a nearby jungle the following Saturday morning.
Speculation suggests that the Maoists may have brutally killed the couple, suspecting them of collaboration with the authorities, before abandoning their remains in the forest.
Contrary accounts suggest the couple's involvement in ganja cultivation, hinting at a possible motive related to a dispute over the illicit trade.
Regrettably, law enforcement officials have yet to arrive at the scene, leaving the bodies untouched in the forest. This unsettling development has left the local community in a state of fear and uncertainty, with residents hesitant to approach the forest to retrieve the remains.
