Puri, Feb 19: In a tragic development, a minor girl in the Konark area of Odisha's Puri district reportedly took her own life after enduring alleged sexual abuse by her father.

According to accounts, the girl's mother discovered her hanging from the ceiling of their home on Saturday night and promptly rushed her to the Gop Community Health Centre (CHC). Despite efforts by medical staff, she was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Sources indicate that the girl had been subjected to sexual exploitation by her father in recent days, despite warnings from her mother. The relentless abuse likely led to her decision to end her life, unable to endure the physical and psychological torment any longer.

Upon receiving notification, Konark police responded to the scene, securing the body for further investigation. Subsequently, it was transferred for post-mortem examination.

At present, the accused father remains at large, while family members of the deceased have yet to file a formal complaint. However, authorities have initiated an inquiry, registering the case as an unnatural death, and are actively probing the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
