Odisha CM expands LAccMI bus service to five additional districts

Bhubaneswar, Feb 12: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik introduced the Location Accessible Multimodal Initiative (LAccMI) Bus Scheme in Deogarh, Angul, and Dhenkanal districts via video conferencing.
Emphasizing the people-centric approach of his administration, he stated, "My government is committed to the aspirations of the people. Plans in Odisha are crafted with utmost regard to their needs."
Highlighting the scheme's genesis during his district visits as the 5T Chairman, the Chief Minister underscored its roots in addressing community concerns. He noted, "The LAccMI Bus Scheme was devised based on the valuable input received from the people, aiming to alleviate transportation challenges in rural areas."
The initiative, initially launched in Malkangiri, has now expanded to encompass a total of 14 districts. With today's inauguration, 301 buses commenced operations across 1,340 panchayats in five districts, benefitting over 8.3 million individuals. Specifically, in Balangir, 44 buses are serving 313 panchayats, aiding around 1.65 million residents. In Bargarh, 60 buses cater to 243 panchayats, benefiting approximately 1.422 million people. Bhadrak witnesses 25 buses operating in 158 panchayats, assisting 1.08 million individuals. Additionally, Mayurbhanj benefits from 107 buses across 386 panchayats, aiding 2.42 million residents, while Sundargarh sees 65 buses serving 240 panchayats, benefitting 1.72 million individuals.
The scheme facilitates bus connectivity from Panchayat to Block levels, with over 1000 buses expected to traverse the state. Mission Shakti members have been entrusted with managing these buses under the 5T initiative, ensuring efficient implementation of the scheme.
