Nayapalli Police nab duo in vehicle rental scam
Bhubaneswar, Jan 22: Nayapalli police apprehended two individuals for allegedly failing to pay the rental fees for vehicles they hired from two different car rental agencies and refusing to return the vehicles.
The arrested individuals are Susanta Kumar Sahu (41) and R Tata Rao (35). Law enforcement authorities confiscated a total of nine vehicles, including cars and SUVs, from their possession.
According to police reports, the arrest was made after conducting raids at the suspects' premises, prompted by complaints filed by Rajat Kumar Sahu, the owner of Rideez Car Rental, and Suraj Kumar Bisoyi, the proprietor of a self-drive car agency named BTA Ride.
The accused individuals, Susant Kumar Sahu and R Tata Rao, stand accused under sections 406 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code.
Susant Kumar Sahu and R Tata Rao had rented vehicles from Rideez Car Rental and BTA Ride, respectively. They allegedly failed to fulfill their financial obligations by neither paying the rental charges nor returning the vehicles to the respective agencies.
Following their arrest, the accused have admitted to their wrongdoing and have been presented before the court for further legal proceedings.
