Tragedy strikes Mayurbhanj village as woman falls victim to suspected witchcraft-related killing

Baripada, Jan 18: In a tragic incident in Lahandakocha village under Jharpokharia police jurisdiction in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district, a married woman named Minti Murmu was brutally murdered on Wednesday by her brother-in-law and nephew over suspicion of practicing witchcraft.
Minti Murmu, the wife of Bolai Murmu from the same village, fell victim to the heinous crime. The village had witnessed a series of unsettling events in recent days. Allegations of practicing witchcraft were leveled against Minti, particularly by her brother-in-law and nephew, who ultimately took matters into their own hands. Using sharp weapons, they ended Minti's life on Wednesday night.
Shocked by the unfolding tragedy, Bolai Murmu promptly reported the murder to the police, pointing fingers at his own brother and nephew as the perpetrators of the crime. The Jharpokharia police swiftly arrived at the scene, initiating an investigation into the horrifying incident.
