Similipal Tiger Reserve: Two poachers apprehended, weapons seized

Baripada, Jan 12:On Friday, Special Tiger Protection Force (STPF) personnel apprehended two poachers within the southern division of the Similipal Tiger Conservation Project. The individuals in custody have been identified as Antyarami Naik (37), hailing from Pathakhani village under Kaptipada police limits, and Phillip Naik (35), from Khadikasho village under Udala police limits.
During the arrest, authorities confiscated two country-made guns, 86 iron balls, 500 grams of explosive powder, gunpowder, and various hunting equipment from the suspects. Samrat Gowda, Deputy Director of the Southern Division of the Similipal Tiger Conservation Project, informed that two separate cases have been filed against the arrested individuals.
The Forest Department officials apprehended Antyarthami Naik during their patrol in the Podadiha range of the South Division of the Similipal Tiger Conservation Project. Similarly, Phillip Naik was captured by STPF personnel during their patrol in the Genbil Range.
