Two forest officials suspended over elephant death in Kuldiha Sanctuary

Balasore, Jan 6:Two forest officials from the Hatikholia section under the Nilagiri forest range in Balasore district have been suspended in connection with the death of an elephant in the Kuldiha Wildlife Sanctuary.
Forester Padmavati Behera and Forest Guard Pramila Sena, both under the purview of Similipal Field Director, faced suspension for alleged dereliction of duty, which is believed to have contributed to the demise of the elephant.
Following their suspension, Jayant Kumar Pradhan has been appointed as the new forester in the Hatikholia section, while Manohar Singh has taken over as the Forest Guard of Hatikholia Beat. In a similar vein, Ayushman Panda has been designated as the new Forest Guard of Mangalpur Beat.
The recent discovery of an elephant carcass in the Kuldiha forest, situated within the Nilagiri forest range, triggered the investigation leading to the suspension of the forest officials.
