Three additional COVID cases identified in Odisha
Bhubaneswar, Dec 28: With the identification of three additional active COVID cases in Odisha within the past 24 hours, the total has reached 8, although the health condition of all patients remains stable.
Odisha's Public Health Director, Dr. Niranjan Mishra, informed the media that out of 690 individuals tested on Wednesday, three were found to be affected by JN.1, a new sub-variant of Omicron. Dr. Mishra reassured that all the patients are currently in home isolation. According to data from the Union Health Ministry, 92% of patients are managing their conditions at home, with hospitalization reserved for those with comorbidities.
Dr. Mishra clarified that JN.1 is considered a mild variant, but it exhibits rapid spread. The symptoms are akin to those of seasonal flu. He emphasized the importance of testing for individuals experiencing flu-like symptoms.
In a broader context, the nation reported 692 new active COVID cases in the last 24 hours, accompanied by six fatalities.
