Security forces seize arms and explosives in Malkangiri Maoist dump

Malkangiri, Dec 25: In a significant development, Malkangiri police have discovered a substantial Maoist cache in the wooded expanse near Kurmanur village under Kalimela police jurisdiction.
Responding to credible information, personnel from the District Voluntary Force (DVF) and Special Operation Group (SOG) undertook an exhaustive search in the jungle area near Kurmanur village under Kalimela police limits on Sunday. This operation resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of arms, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and various items commonly employed by Maoists, according to an official press release.
Security forces successfully confiscated 15 IEDs, 30 gelatin sticks, 5 grenades, one SBML Gun, 3 electric detonators equipped with codex wire, 4 iron magazine chargers, Maoist uniforms, and several other articles from the discovered Maoist dump.
The press release noted a sudden surge in suspected Maoist activities in the region, with indications of efforts to reactivate their dalams in various areas. Intelligence gathering and heightened surveillance are being employed in vulnerable zones to address this escalating threat. The recovery of the cache is considered a significant setback to the Maoists' subversive and anti-national agenda in the area.
Authorities suspect that the seized explosives and paraphernalia belong to Maoist cadres associated with the AOBSZC, suggesting intentions to deploy them against innocent civilians and security forces for subversive, anti-national activities, with the aim of re-establishing their presence in the area.
