Chief Civil Supplies Officer in Bhubaneswar arrested for alleged 134% DA

Bhubaneswar, Dec 22: Prashanta Kumar Gantayat, Chief Civil Supplies Officer in Bhubaneswar, found himself under arrest by Odisha Vigilance. He was subsequently presented before the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar, on charges related to possessing disproportionate assets (DA) amounting to 134% more than his documented sources of income, for which he failed to provide a satisfactory account.
The search of Gantayat's residence unveiled significant movable and immovable assets registered in his name and that of his family members, valued at crores:
A triple-storeyed building under construction covering approximately 4800 sqft., situated on Plot No.1484 & 1485 at Pandara, Bhubaneswar.
A double-storeyed building (VIM-192) located in Chandrasekharpur, Bhubaneswar.
An apartment in Neelachal City Canal Road, Badagada, Laxmi Sagar, Bhubaneswar.
Another apartment in the village of Bhabanipur, Berhampur-II, part of Neelachal Heights.
Five plots, including three in prime areas of Bhubaneswar.
Gold weighing 625.96 grams.
Bank and insurance deposits totaling approximately Rs. 1.48 Crore.
Cash amounting to Rs. 1,21,960/-.
One four-wheeler (Honda Amaze), two two-wheelers, and household articles valued at over Rs. 19.47 Lakhs.
Following a comprehensive search, inventory, and further investigation, it was determined that the income, expenditure, and assets of Gantayat were disproportionate, exceeding his known sources of income by 134%.
