Bolangir duo arrested for switching real gold with fake ornaments

Balangir, Dec 17: Two individuals have been apprehended in Odisha's Bolangir district on charges of defrauding people through the use of counterfeit or duplicate gold ornaments. The police have not disclosed the identities of the arrested individuals.
According to reports, the duo allegedly deceived Kishore Meher of Chandanbhati village in the district on December 4. The accused visited Meher's residence, requesting him to provide a loan against gold ornaments. They presented genuine gold ornaments, which Meher verified. However, while Meher was occupied fetching cash from another room, the duo purportedly swapped the authentic ornaments with fake ones.
Subsequently, the perpetrators absconded with the cash, leaving Meher with the counterfeit gold ornaments. The fraud was uncovered when Meher later inspected the ornaments, leading him to file a complaint with the Bolangir Sadar Police.
Upon receiving the complaint, the police took prompt action and apprehended both individuals involved in the fraudulent activity. The investigation into the matter is ongoing.
