Bhubaneswar, Dec 16: In a significant breakthrough, the Special Task Force (STF) of the Odisha police has apprehended a Kashmiri fraudster with connections to suspicious anti-national elements in Jajpur district.
The arrested individual, identified as Sayed Ishaan Bukhari, also known as Ishaan Bukhari and Dr Ishaan Bukhari (37), was taken into custody by a specialized STF team during a raid in the Neulpur area of Jajpur district.
Bukhari is sought by the Kashmir Police in connection to a cheating and forgery case, with a non-bailable warrant pending against him. Sources reveal that the accused was in communication with individuals of interest in Kerala and some Pakistani nationals. The STF, in a release on Saturday, disclosed the seizure of over 100 documents during the operation.
Surprisingly, investigations uncovered that Bukhari had assumed various false identities, presenting himself as a Neuro Specialist Doctor, an Army Doctor, an officer in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), and a close associate of high-ranking National Investigation Agency (NIA) officials.
The accused, Sayed Ishaan Bukhari, has reportedly married at least 6-7 women from different parts of India, including Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Odisha. His online presence on various websites and apps revealed romantic relationships with multiple women, posing as a doctor with international qualifications.
During the raid, law enforcement confiscated several forged documents, including medical degree certificates purportedly issued by Cornel University of the USA, the Canadian Health Services Institute, and Christian Medical College Vellore. Additionally, blank signed documents, affidavits, bonds, numerous identity cards, ATM cards, blank checks, Aadhaar cards, and visiting cards were seized.
