Tragedy strikes Odisha brick kiln: Two laborers succumb to asphyxiation
Dhenkanal, Dec 15: Two laborers lost their lives, and another fights for survival following an incident of asphyxiation in Odisha's Dhenkanal district. The tragic occurrence unfolded in Manpur village, falling under Kontabania police limits.
Late on Thursday night, after a day's work, three laborers chose the brick kiln as their resting place. Unexpectedly, smoke from a diesel generator enveloped the area, leading to the suffocation and demise of two workers. The third laborer, found in critical condition, was initially taken to Angul District Headquarters Hospital (DHC) but later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack due to a worsening health condition.
All the affected laborers hail from the neighboring Angul district.
