Kabir and Avipsa shines with double titles in Nalco Open Tennis tournament

Kabir and Avipsa shines with double titles in Nalco Open Tennis tournament

Kabir Hans and Avipsa Dehury's outstanding performances in both categories added a remarkable chapter to the The 22nd All Odisha Nalco Open Tennis Tournament, which concluded at Kalinga Stadium here on Sunday.

 

Kabir Hans edged out Pratyush Mohanty 6-2, 6-0 to become men’s singles champion. Kabir partnering Debasis Sahoo won the men’s doubles title by defeating Pratyush Mohanty & Kumar Anurag Saran 6-2 6-2.

 

Similarly, the women’s open singles and U-14 girls singles trophies was claimed by Avipsa Dehury by defeating Krishna Raj and Sanvi Mohanty 6-2, 6-2 and 6-2, 6-0 respectively. Altogether 400 players were participated in nine different categories. The champion and runner up of each category received a cash award of Rs 18,000 and Rs 12,000 respectively. The losing semifinalists and quarterfinalists got Rs 10,000 and Rs 8,000 respectively.  

 

Sridhar Patra, CMD of Nalco gave away the prizes as the chief guest of the closing ceremony. Among others, Aswin Prasad Mohanty, Head Resident Executive at Tata Steel, Suresh Chandra Mohapatra (BDTA Advisor to the Chief Minister of Odisha & President), Saswat Mishra (BDTA Secretary),  Debidutta Biswal (PCCF Forest Department, Govt of Odisha), Professor AIIMS Bhubaneswar Dr. Saroj Kumar Das Majumdar, R Viswanath (BDTA Jt Secretary) and members of BDTA were present.  

 

Final Results: Mens Open Singles final: Kabir Hans bt Pratyush Mohanty 6-2 6-0, Womens Open Singles: Avipsa Dehury bt Krishna Raj 6-2 6-2, Mens Open Doubles: Kabir Hans & Debasish Sahoo bt Pratyush Mohanty & Kumar Anurag Saran 6-2 6-2, Boys Under-14 Singles: Aditya Bikram Acharya bt Aahaan Mishra 6-1 6-7(5) 6-4, Girls Under-14 Singles: Avipsa Dehury bt Sanvi Mohanty 6-2 6-0, Boys Under-18 Singles: Aditya Bikram Acharya bt Anshuman Acharya 6-2 6-1

 

Mens Veteran's 40+ Doubles: Satirtha Patnaik & Arun Kumar Nayak bt Dayal Gangwar & Saswat Jena 8-6, Mens Veteran's 50+ Doubles: Saswat Jena & Dayal Gangwar bt Bandhu Mohanty & Daichuilung Panmei 8-3, Mens Veteran's 60+ Doubles: Ajay Mohapatra & S S Rath bt Bandhu Mohanty & Rabindra Senapati 9-3.
