Railway signal engineer succumbs to fatal accident as train hits trapped leg

Nuapada, Dec 8: A railway signal engineer lost his life when a train struck him while attempting to free his leg trapped on the railway track in Nuapada district, Odisha, last night.
The deceased, identified as Anup Ray from Balangir, had arrived at Nuapada Railway station from Lakhna Railway station to undertake repairs on the signal system. Following the completion of his work, Ray boarded a freight train back to Nuapada.
Tragically, as he crossed the railway track, his leg became ensnared, and despite his efforts to extricate himself, a moving train collided with him. Anup Ray succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
Upon receiving information, the Government Railway Police promptly reached the scene, facilitated the transportation of the body for autopsy, and initiated an investigation into the incident.
