Odisha's Eco-Retreat 2023-24 expands to new locations, inaugurated virtually by CM Naveen

Bhubaneswar, Dec 1: Odisha’s highly anticipated Eco-Retreat 2023-24 has made a grand comeback, expanding its footprint across three new locations—Konark, Sonapur, and Bhitarkanika. The event's 5th edition was virtually inaugurated today by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, marking a significant expansion from the previous editions.

Earlier, on November 1, the CM had inaugurated Eco Retreat Putsil, Daringbadi, Hirakud, and Satkosia. This year’s event promises an array of exclusive holiday experiences, featuring thrilling water sports and various recreational activities. Among the new additions, Eco Retreat Konark boasts 70 cottages, while Bhitarkanika (Pentha) and Sonapur each offer 25 accommodations.

During the inauguration, Patnaik highlighted, “With four successful editions behind us, Odisha Government’s flagship product, Eco Retreat, has garnered immense praise from the travel and tourism community. It stands as a sustainable model incorporating best practices in waste management and holistic resource usage, elevating tourists’ leisure experience akin to top-tier resorts.”

The event's opening witnessed the presence of Minister of Tourism Aswini Patra, Minister of State for E & IT, Sports & Youth Services, and Home Tusharkanti Behera, Chairperson Konark NAC Sanjukta Tripathy, Director Tourism Sachin R. Jadhav, and other officials from the Department of Tourism.

Notably, Odisha's Eco Retreats are dedicated to zero-waste discharge tourism, prioritizing environmental preservation. Positioned thoughtfully in ecologically sensitive zones, these retreats are designed to ensure minimal impact on the natural environment while offering tourists a luxurious camping experience amidst nature’s embrace.

This winter, visitors can relish 5-star facilities within glamorous camps and partake in guided tours and adventure activities such as water sports and paragliding, ensuring an unforgettable stay.
