Baramunda ISBT operational from New Year

Bhubaneswar, Nov 28: The long-anticipated Baramunda Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) is set to commence operations on January 1, 2024.
The inauguration of the Baramunda ISBT will be officiated by Odisha's Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik, as confirmed by officials from the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA), the project's implementing agency.
Construction has reached completion, with interior and beautification works slated for completion within the next month. Traffic flow for buses will see those arriving from Cuttack executing a u-turn at Khandagiri Square for entry, while buses bound for Khordha will make a u-turn at Fire Station Square.
Spanning 11 acres, the Baramunda ISBT stands as the largest bus terminal in the state, developed at an estimated cost of Rs 209.30 crore. Modern amenities, including a food court, elevator, multi-storied car parking, WiFi, and passenger pickup/drop-off facilities, will be integrated into the terminal.
With a capacity for approximately 2000 daily bus operations, the Baramunda ISBT is committed to environmental sustainability, operating entirely on solar power.
The terminal's management will follow a public-private partnership (PPP) model, with two agencies selected—one for operation and maintenance, and another for revenue collection. The initial contract period for these agencies is set at five years.
