ITI students join cyclone restoration efforts in Ganjam
Bhubaneswar, Nov 3: Students from five government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and a government engineering institution have joined the post-cyclone restoration drive in Ganjam district, extending technical support to repair damaged water supply systems, pumps and electrical equipment following Cyclone ‘Arnab’.
The students have also successfully repaired damaged electrical equipment at Asika Sub-Divisional Hospital, helping restore essential services disrupted by the cyclone.
The initiative involves students from Government ITIs at Brahmapur, Sheragada, Purusottampur, Hinjilikatu and Chhatrapur, along with trainees from Uma Charan Patnaik Engineering School in Brahmapur. They are carrying out repair and restoration work in different parts of the district to help affected communities regain access to essential facilities.
The activities are being conducted under the direct supervision of the district administration. Each team has been assigned a designated supervisor to ensure proper coordination, guidance and timely completion of the work.
The initiative has provided students with an opportunity to put their classroom learning and technical skills into practice while contributing to community welfare. Their participation has also demonstrated how technical educational institutions can play an important role in disaster response, rehabilitation and restoration, particularly in bringing essential public services back to normalcy after natural calamities.
