Bhubaneswar, Sep 25: 2015-batch IPS officer Saravana Vivek M on Friday assumed charge as the new Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) of Bhubaneswar, succeeding Jagmohan Meena.

Saravana Vivek M, who was serving as the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Berhampur, formally took charge of the state capital’s police administration on Friday. His appointment comes at a time when maintaining law and order and ensuring public safety remain key priorities for the city police.

As Bhubaneswar DCP, Saravana Vivek M will oversee the overall law-and-order situation in the capital and coordinate policing operations across different parts of the city. His responsibilities will include crime prevention, maintaining public order, traffic-related coordination and ensuring security during major events and gatherings.

He succeeds Jagmohan Meena, whose resignation from government service was accepted by the Centre on September 11.

Before his new assignment, Saravana Vivek M served as Berhampur SP, where he handled several policing and law-and-order challenges. His tenure involved overseeing crime prevention measures, police operations and public safety initiatives in the city and surrounding areas.

With his appointment as DCP, Saravana Vivek M is expected to focus on strengthening policing mechanisms and improving coordination among various units of the Bhubaneswar Commissionerate Police.

The new DCP’s immediate priorities are likely to include maintaining peace and security, preventing crime and ensuring effective policing across the state capital.
