Bhubaneswar, Sep 8: Bharatpur police on Tuesday arrested a man for allegedly raping his 27-year-old neighbour in the Bharatpur police station area of Bhubaneswar.

According to reports, the accused allegedly entered the woman’s residence and raped her. The alleged incident subsequently came to light after the woman’s mother accompanied her to the Bharatpur police station and lodged a complaint against the accused.

Following the complaint, police initiated an investigation into the allegations and began collecting information related to the incident. Based on the complaint and preliminary findings, the accused was subsequently taken into custody for his alleged involvement in the crime.

Police officials said further investigation is underway to establish the sequence of events and gather additional evidence in connection with the case. Statements of the victim and other persons familiar with the matter are also expected to form part of the investigation.

The police are examining all relevant aspects of the complaint and will proceed with further legal action based on the findings of the investigation.

Officials have not disclosed additional details concerning the identity of the accused or the woman involved in the case. The investigation remains ongoing.
