Bhubaneswar, Sep 7: Three armed miscreants allegedly looted Rs 2.37 lakh from the Kandabahal branch of Odisha Grameen Bank in Sundargarh district at gunpoint on Monday, triggering panic among bank employees and local residents.

According to preliminary reports, the three accused reached the bank on a motorcycle. One of them allegedly entered the branch carrying a pistol and threatened the employees. The armed miscreant reportedly intimidated the bank staff and demanded that the cash available at the branch be handed over.

He allegedly collected around Rs 2.37 lakh before rushing out of the bank and joining his two accomplices, who were waiting outside on the motorcycle. The trio then reportedly fled the area with the looted cash within minutes.

Following the incident, police were informed and a team reached the bank to begin an investigation. Officials are examining CCTV footage from inside the branch and nearby locations in an attempt to identify the suspects and establish their movements before and after the robbery.

A sniffer dog has also been deployed to assist investigators in gathering clues and tracing the possible escape route.

Police have launched a search operation to identify and apprehend all three accused. Further details are awaited as the investigation continues.
