Odisha to build ₹180-crore disaster management centre in Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar, July 7: The Odisha Government has announced plans to construct a state-of-the-art Disaster Management Building in Bhubaneswar at an estimated cost of ₹180 crore to further strengthen the State's disaster preparedness and emergency response infrastructure.
Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari said on Tuesday that the project will be executed by the Odisha Bridge & Construction Corporation Limited (OB&CC) and is targeted for completion within one-and-a-half years. The foundation stone for the ambitious project is expected to be laid in September 2026.
The proposed facility will serve as a modern hub for disaster planning, coordination, monitoring and emergency response. Equipped with advanced infrastructure and technology, it is expected to enhance Odisha's capacity to tackle cyclones, floods and other natural disasters more effectively.
Apart from the disaster management centre, the State Government has also approved the construction of a modern auditorium at the Revenue Officers' Training Institute (ROTI) in Bhubaneswar at an estimated cost of ₹90 crore. The auditorium will feature modern amenities and infrastructure for training programmes, conferences and official events.
The minister further announced plans to build new circuit houses in Bhubaneswar and Puri to meet the growing demand for government accommodation. In Puri, the new facility will come up within the existing Special Circuit House campus, while a suitable site for a new circuit house in Bhubaneswar will be identified by the Works Department due to space constraints at the current premises.
These projects form part of the State Government's broader initiative to modernise administrative infrastructure and improve public facilities across Odisha.
