CM Majhi orders probe into textbook errors, forms high-level committee
Bhubaneswar, June 17: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has expressed serious concern over errors detected in school textbooks and directed officials to take immediate corrective measures. In response to the issue, the state government has constituted a high-level committee to investigate the lapses and fix accountability.
The decision was taken during a high-level review meeting held at Lok Seva Bhawan on Wednesday. The meeting was attended by School and Mass Education Minister Nityanand Gond, Chief Secretary Anu Garg and senior officials of the School and Mass Education Department.
After reviewing the matter in detail, the Chief Minister directed that all errors identified in the textbooks be corrected without delay so that students do not face any academic inconvenience. He emphasized the need to maintain high standards in educational materials and ensure greater scrutiny during the preparation and publication of textbooks.
To examine the issue thoroughly, the government has formed a three-member high-level committee under the chairmanship of the Development Commissioner. The committee has been tasked with investigating the circumstances that led to the mistakes and identifying the officials, agencies or organisations responsible for the lapses.
The panel has been asked to submit its report within seven days. Based on the findings of the committee, the government will initiate strict action against those found responsible for the errors.
The Chief Minister reiterated that the quality of education remains a top priority for the state government and that any negligence affecting students' learning will be dealt with firmly. The administration has also assured that necessary steps will be taken to prevent such mistakes in future textbook publications.
