Monsoon likely to enter Odisha in 3–4 days, relief from scorching heat on the horizon
Bhubaneswar, June 11: After enduring weeks of scorching temperatures and oppressive humidity, people across Odisha may finally get relief as the southwest monsoon is expected to enter the state within the next three to four days.
Meteorologists have indicated that monsoon winds are advancing steadily and conditions have become favourable for their further progress towards Odisha. If the current weather pattern continues, several parts of the state could witness the season’s first widespread showers soon, bringing much-needed respite from the prevailing heatwave-like conditions.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the southwest monsoon remains active over both the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea. Supported by favourable atmospheric conditions, the monsoon system is advancing rapidly towards eastern and northern parts of the country, including Odisha.
Weather experts have also expressed optimism that this year’s Raja festival, one of Odisha’s most celebrated cultural events, may be accompanied by rainfall. Such a development would provide significant relief to residents who have been battling extreme heat and high humidity for several weeks.
With the arrival of the monsoon, rainfall activity is expected to intensify across the state. Day temperatures are likely to decline gradually, while weather conditions are expected to become more pleasant.
The anticipated onset of the monsoon is also expected to benefit the agricultural sector, as farmers eagerly await the rains to begin sowing operations for the upcoming kharif season.
For many residents, the forecast comes as welcome news after an unusually uncomfortable spell of summer weather across Odisha.
