June 4 a historic turning point in Odisha politics: CM Majhi marks two years of BJP government
Bhubaneswar, June 4: As the BJP government completed two years in Odisha, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday described June 4 as a “revolutionary and glorious day” in the state’s political history, marking the anniversary of the 2024 Assembly election results that brought the Bharatiya Janata Party to power for the first time in the state.
The BJP ended the Biju Janata Dal’s uninterrupted 24-year rule after securing a decisive mandate in the 2024 elections, the results of which were declared on June 4. Mohan Charan Majhi was subsequently sworn in as Chief Minister on June 12, 2024.
In a message addressed to the people of Odisha, Majhi said the historic mandate reflected the public’s desire for change and ushered in a new era of governance. He stated that the people’s support not only helped form a strong government but also broke long-standing political stagnation and laid the foundation for a transparent, prosperous and progressive Odisha.
Highlighting the achievements of the “double-engine government,” Majhi said close coordination between the Centre and the State, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, had accelerated development and welfare initiatives across Odisha.
The Chief Minister reaffirmed his government’s commitment to transparency, accountability and public welfare, and called upon citizens to actively participate in building a “Prosperous Odisha” and contributing to the vision of a “Developed India.”
