Youth dies after honey bee attack in Kandhamal’s Baliguda
Bhubaneswar, May 26: A young man died after being attacked by a swarm of honey bees in Baliguda town of Odisha’s Kandhamal district on Tuesday morning, triggering shock and grief among local residents.
The deceased was identified as B. Maheshwar Rao Dora, popularly known as Pintu, a resident of Khajurinalla Sahi in Baliguda.
According to reports, Maheshwar had gone to a local stadium for morning activities and was returning home when the tragic incident occurred. As he entered his house, a large swarm of honey bees suddenly emerged from a beehive located on the roof of the building and attacked him.
The bees reportedly stung him repeatedly on the neck and several other parts of the body. Unable to withstand the attack, Maheshwar collapsed on the spot.
Hearing screams, family members and nearby residents rushed to his rescue and immediately shifted him to Baliguda Hospital for treatment. However, doctors at the hospital declared him dead on arrival.
Sources said Maheshwar had been running a stationery shop in Baliguda market for several years and was well known among locals. His sudden and untimely death has cast a pall of gloom over the area, with traders and residents expressing deep sorrow over the tragic incident.
