Bhubaneswar, May 22: In a shocking incident that has raised serious concerns over law and order in Odisha, two young men were allegedly assaulted in broad daylight by a group of miscreants barely 500 metres away from the Udala Police Station.

The incident reportedly took place in Ward No. 5 under Udala NAC and was captured on video, which has since gone viral on social media platforms, triggering widespread public outrage.

According to eyewitnesses, three to four youths allegedly attacked the victims in a coordinated and violent manner on a busy public road. The assailants were seen punching, kicking and repeatedly thrashing the two youths while terrified locals watched from a distance.

Sources claimed that the victims had earlier raised objections in April over alleged poor-quality developmental work in the area, which may have triggered the attack. However, police have not officially confirmed the motive behind the assault.

The disturbing video reportedly shows the victims being chased and beaten mercilessly in full public view, with the attackers appearing fearless despite the proximity of the police station.

The incident has sparked criticism among residents, with many expressing concern over rising incidents of violence and alleged “goonda raj” in the region. Police investigation into the matter is currently underway.
