Bodies of young couple found hanging from tree in Subarnapur

Bhubaneswar, May 7: In a shocking incident, the bodies of a young man and woman were found hanging from a banyan tree at Gulunda village under Binka police station limits in Subarnapur district on Thursday morning.

According to preliminary reports, the deceased are suspected to have been in a relationship. The bodies were found hanging from the tree using red-coloured towels tied as nooses. However, their identities had not been established till the filing of this report.

Villagers first spotted the bodies hanging from the tree and immediately informed the police. A police team soon reached the spot, recovered the bodies, and launched an investigation into the incident.

During the examination of the area, officials recovered a bag and a pair of slippers believed to belong to the deceased from beneath the tree. Police are now scrutinising the seized items and other possible clues to ascertain the identity of the couple and understand the circumstances leading to the deaths.

Though initial suspicion points towards suicide, police said all angles are being investigated. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.

The incident has created shock and tension in the village, with locals gathering near the spot as police continued their investigation. Authorities said further details are expected to emerge once the identities of the deceased are confirmed.
