Tight security arrangements for Odisha Assembly special session
Bhubaneswar, April 29: Elaborate and stringent security arrangements have been put in place for the one-day special session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly scheduled on April 30 in Bhubaneswar.
According to officials, around 70 platoons of police force will be deployed across the Assembly premises and surrounding areas to maintain law and order. The entire complex will be secured under a three-tier security cordon. In addition to regular police personnel, specialised units such as the Special Tactical Unit (STU), Dog Squad, Bomb Squad, and Fire Services teams have been assigned specific responsibilities to ensure foolproof security.
As part of precautionary measures, prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC are likely to be imposed at Lower PMG Square to regulate the movement of people and vehicles and prevent any untoward incidents.
The special session is scheduled to commence at 11 AM, as per the notification issued by the Assembly Secretariat. The session has been convened to deliberate on the role and contribution of women in India’s democratic framework, with particular focus on the Women’s Reservation Bill.
Authorities have urged the public to cooperate with security personnel and adhere to the guidelines during the session.
