Bargarh forest staff go on indefinite mass leave
Bhubaneswar, April 29: More than 100 forest employees of the Bargarh Forest Division have proceeded on an indefinite mass leave from today, alleging misconduct and harassment by the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO).
According to reports, the protesting employees assembled at the Maa Parapaat Temple before launching their agitation and took a collective oath. They pledged not to resume duty until the DFO is transferred from the division. The staff have accused the officer of subjecting them to mental and physical harassment, claiming that he has been exerting undue pressure and engaging in ill-treatment during official interactions.
The sudden protest has raised concerns about disruption of forest-related work and administration in the division.
Responding to the allegations, the DFO has strongly denied all charges. Speaking to the media, he stated that he has not imposed any financial or undue pressure on employees. He maintained that his approach has been strictly professional and focused on ensuring discipline and proper execution of official duties.
“I have no personal issues with any staff member. I am only enforcing rules and accountability,” the officer said. He further alleged that the protest may be a reaction to his insistence on discipline and adherence to work standards.
