Bhubaneswar, April 28: In a shocking incident, a man allegedly murdered his father and seriously injured his mother at Kadamdihi village under Koida police station limits in Sundargarh district late on Monday night.

According to reports, the accused—identified as the son of Painda Munda—first attacked his mother in a sudden fit of rage inside their home. Hearing her screams, his father rushed to intervene and protect her. However, the situation quickly escalated as the accused turned violent towards him.

The accused allegedly assaulted his father with a wooden stick, striking him repeatedly. The attack proved fatal, and the father died on the spot due to the severity of the injuries. Meanwhile, the mother sustained grievous injuries, including a fractured hand and heavy bleeding. She was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where she is currently undergoing treatment.

The brutal nature of the incident has sent shockwaves through the village, with locals expressing fear and disbelief.

Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to ascertain the motive behind the crime. The accused is currently absconding, and a search operation has been launched to trace and apprehend him at the earliest.
