Massive Consignment Of Illegal Narcotics Seized
Bhubaneswar, Mar 30: In a major crackdown under the “Drug-Free Odisha” campaign, Subarnapur Police seized a massive consignment of illegal narcotics, including 1,091 kg of ganja and 240 bottles of codeine-based cough syrup, with a total estimated market value exceeding Rs 11 crore. Nine individuals have been arrested in connection with the operation, officials confirmed on Monday.
The arrested accused include Rajesh Sethy (23), Venkatesh Mahakud (26), and Jitendra Sethi (24) from areas under Biramaharajpur police limits, along with Laxman Jadav (29) and another Laxman Jadav (59) from Bihar’s Buxar district. Others held are Abhimanyu Badhei, Narendra Das (30), Hemanta Bastia (31), and Dhirendra Behera (22).
The operation, carried out after extensive intelligence gathering and surveillance, also led to the seizure of 21 vehicles across multiple locations, including Biramaharajpur, Sonepur, and Binka police station areas.
Police officials stated that the action is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle drug networks and curb illegal trafficking. Authorities reiterated their commitment to ensuring public safety and strengthening enforcement measures to build a drug-free society in Odisha.
