Odisha gets ₹797.17 crore green energy jetty at Paradip Port
Bhubaneswar, Feb 27: In a major boost to Odisha’s maritime and green energy ambitions, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal for approving a ₹797.17 crore dedicated jetty at Paradip Port Authority.
The project, cleared on Thursday, will facilitate handling of green hydrogen, ammonia and other liquid cargo, significantly enhancing Odisha’s position in the clean energy sector. The chief minister said the initiative would transform the state into a future-ready maritime economy and strengthen its contribution to India’s green transition.
With a planned capacity of 4 million tonnes per annum (MTPA), the jetty will connect Odisha’s emerging green hydrogen production clusters to global markets and support the National Green Hydrogen Mission. The facility will be developed on a build-operate-transfer (BOT) basis and include storage systems, pipelines, handling equipment and other infrastructure.
The jetty will feature a 279-metre centre-to-centre distance between extreme end dolphins and a dredged depth of 14.3 metres to ensure safe vessel operations. The Port Authority will provide ₹159.43 crore as capital support. The project is expected to be completed within 24 months.
