Bhubaneswar, Feb 3: A group of dancers was allegedly assaulted and robbed by miscreants in the Tigiria area of Cuttack district late on Monday night, triggering public outrage after a video of the incident went viral on social media. The victims were reportedly returning home after performing at a cultural programme when the attack took place.

According to preliminary reports, six to seven youths intercepted the vehicle carrying the dancers on a roadside stretch in Tigiria. The assailants allegedly forced the vehicle to stop and then launched a physical attack on the occupants. The victims claimed they were beaten and robbed during the incident, leaving several of them with injuries.

A video purportedly showing the assault has been widely circulated online, drawing sharp reactions and calls for swift action against those involved. Following the incident, the injured dancers approached the police and lodged a formal complaint detailing the sequence of events.

Based on the complaint, police have registered a case and initiated an investigation. Officials said efforts are underway to identify the attackers using the viral video and other technical evidence. Police have assured that strict action will be taken against those responsible once they are traced and apprehended.
