Transgender brutally stabbed to death on Bhubaneswar outskirts

Bhubaneswar, Feb 2: In a shocking and gruesome incident, a transgender was allegedly stabbed to death near the Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (CIFA) under the jurisdiction of Pipili police station on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar late on Monday night. The incident has sparked outrage and concern over safety in the area.

The deceased has been identified as Anjali, a native of Salepur, who had been residing in Bhubaneswar for the past few years. According to preliminary reports, Anjali was attacked by two unidentified miscreants who arrived at the spot on a motorcycle. The assailants allegedly stabbed her multiple times with a sharp weapon before fleeing the scene, leaving her critically injured near a sand pile.

Despite sustaining severe injuries, Anjali reportedly regained consciousness and managed to contact her friends over the phone. Her companions rushed to the spot and found her lying in a pool of blood. She was immediately taken to Capital Hospital for emergency treatment. However, doctors declared her brought dead.

On receiving information, Pipili police reached the spot and initiated a detailed investigation to determine the motive behind the brutal murder. Police have seized the victim’s mobile phone and are examining call detail records for possible leads. CCTV footage from areas in and around CIFA is also being scrutinised to identify and trace the accused. Further investigation is underway.
