Class IX student’s brave fight against bear attack wins praise in Balasore
Bhubaneswar, Jan 31: A Class IX student has become the center of public attention after displaying extraordinary courage by fighting off a bear attack in Odisha’s Balasore district. The incident took place at Podashula village under the Nilgiri police station limits.
According to reports, the student, identified as Prabhat, was returning home from a nearby village when he suddenly came face-to-face with two bears that had strayed into the locality in search of food. The wild animals reportedly created panic in the village, leaving residents terrified. Caught completely off guard, Prabhat found himself directly in the bears’ path.
Despite the life-threatening situation, the teenager showed remarkable presence of mind and bravery. He resisted the attack and fought back, managing to escape from the clutches of the bears. However, he sustained severe injuries during the encounter. Locals rushed to his aid and he was immediately shifted to Nilgiri Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment.
Prabhat’s courage has drawn widespread praise from villagers and on social media, with many hailing him as a symbol of fearlessness. His bravery has also been compared to a recent incident in Jagatpur area of Cuttack, where a youth reportedly killed a tiger during an attack.
