Kabir, Shazfa, Saswat double crowns in Nalco Open Tennis

Kabir, Shazfa, Saswat double crowns in Nalco Open Tennis

Bhubaneswar; Kabir Hans, S K Shazfa and Saswat Jena bagged double titles in the three-day long 24th Nalco Open Tennis Tournament, which concluded at Kalinga Stadium here on Sunday, being organized by Bhubaneswar District Tennis Association (BDTA).

In the men’s singles final, Kabir edged out Pratyush Mohanty by 6-4, 6-3 and won the titles, similarly in the men’s open doubles final, Kabir partnering Aditya Sathpathy defeated Debhasish Sahoo and Pratyush Mohanty 4-6 ,6-3,10-6 and claim the title.

S K Shazfa won both women’s singles and U-14 girls trophies by defeating Sanrachana Das in both the finals by 9-3 and 8-1 respectively.  

Saswat Jena partnering Vivek Tibarewal won the Veterans 40 + doubles trophy and Saswat along with Dayal Gangwat won the Veterans 50 + doubles trophy.

In other singles categories, Aahaan Mishra, Suyash Patnaik and S K Shazfa won the U-18 boys, U-14 boys and girls trophies respectively.

The winners, runners-up, semi-finalists and quarter-finalists in all categories received cash awards of Rs 18,000, Rs 12,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 8,000 respectively.    

CMD Nalco B P Singh graced the closing ceremony as the chief guest and gave away the prizes. Among others, Director HR OMC Alok Kumar Pal, BDTA President Suresh Mohaptra and Secretary Saswat Mishra were present.

Final Results:

In Boys U14 Singles: Suyash Patanaik defeated Samay Aagman 6-4, 6-3.

In Girls U14 Singles: S K Shazfa defeated Sanrachana Das 8-1

In Boys u 18 Singles: Aahaan Mishra defeated Kaamlesh Rath 6-2 7-5

Women’s open Singles: S K Shazfa defeated Sanrachana Das 9-3

Men’s open Singles: Kabir Hans defeated Pratyush Mohanty 6-4, 6-3

Men’s open Doubles: Kabir Hans and Aditya Sathpathy defeated Debhasish Sahoo and Pratyush Mohanty 4-6 ,6-3,10-6

Veterans 40 + doubles: Saswat Jena and Vivek Tibarewal defeated Dayal Gangwar and Gulliver Low 8-5

Veterans 50 + doubles: Saswat Jena and Dayal Gangwat defeated S S Rath and Snehasish Behera 8-3

Veterans 60 + doubles: S S Rath and Sanjay Sahu defeated Ajoy Sahu and Ajay Mohapatra 8-2
