IMD predicts dense fog in seven Odisha districts for two consecutive days
Bhubaneswar, Dec 3: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a dense fog alert for several parts of Odisha, forecasting reduced visibility in seven districts over the next two days. According to the latest bulletin, dense fog is expected to cover Sundargarh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Koraput, Jharsuguda, Balangir, and Sonepur on December 4 and 5. The IMD stated that “dense fog is very likely to occur at one or two places” across these districts on both days, potentially affecting early morning travel and outdoor activities.
Dense fog conditions typically lead to poor visibility, posing risks for commuters, especially motorists and pedestrians. Authorities have urged residents in the affected regions to remain cautious while travelling, particularly during dawn and late-night hours when fog intensity is generally higher. Drivers are advised to use fog lights, maintain safe speed, and avoid sudden braking to prevent accidents.
The IMD’s warning comes as winter conditions gradually intensify across Odisha. With temperatures dipping and humidity levels fluctuating, fog formation becomes more frequent during this time of the year. Citizens are encouraged to stay updated with local weather forecasts and follow safety advisories to ensure smooth and safe movement during the foggy conditions.
