Cyclonic storm ‘Senyar’ forms near Indonesia, no impact on Odisha: IMD
Bhubaneswar, Nov 26: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday announced the formation of a cyclonic storm named Senyar over the Strait of Malacca and adjoining Northeast Indonesia. The storm is currently positioned about 100 km east of Kuta Makmur in Indonesia and is expected to retain its strength for the next 24 hours before gradually weakening.
According to IMD forecasts, Senyar is likely to move westwards and cross the Indonesian coast near latitude 5.0°N on Tuesday forenoon. After making landfall, the system is expected to shift west-southwestwards initially and then take a turn eastwards in the subsequent 48 hours. Meteorologists are closely observing the storm’s movement due to its unusual path and changing intensity.
The IMD has issued a cautionary alert for regions close to the storm’s trajectory, ensuring that local authorities remain vigilant. However, the regional weather office has clarified that the cyclonic storm will have no impact on Odisha, bringing relief to residents concerned about weather disturbances.
Experts are continuing to monitor Senyar’s behaviour, and updates will be provided as the system evolves. Authorities advise the public to stay informed through official weather bulletins.
