Two arrested for murder of minor boy in Puri; body found near Shree Setu
Bhubaneswar, Nov 15: In a shocking incident, Town Police have arrested two individuals for the alleged murder of a minor boy whose body was discovered in a waterbody near Shree Setu on Friday. The accused, identified as Aju Pradhan (25) and Sipun Singh (18), were produced before the court, where their bail pleas were rejected, following which they were sent to jail.
The victim, Surya, son of Loknath Sahu, had been missing since Tuesday. His worried family members had lodged a missing complaint with Town Police. On Thursday, Surya’s body was recovered from a field near Shree Setu, prompting an immediate investigation.
According to police sources, the murder stemmed from a monetary dispute. Aju had reportedly borrowed Rs 10,000 from Surya two years ago and failed to repay it despite repeated reminders. This unresolved conflict escalated into a heated confrontation, after which Aju, with the help of Sipun, allegedly plotted to eliminate Surya. The duo called him to the Shree Setu area, killed him, and later dumped his body in a nearby pond in an attempt to destroy evidence.
Police have recovered crucial evidence and registered the case under Case No. 695/2025. Investigations also revealed that Sipun has a criminal background, with earlier cases filed against him at Baselisahi and Kumbharpada police stations.
